Really interesting day, thanks for your presentations everyone!
Really excited by the variety of practices and approaches.
There are a load of overlaps I can see with a lot of the presentations today, but I’m going to let it filter down a bit before writing any more about them.
I carried out an activity this afternoon.
For the activity individuals were given some play slime & a short text statement of a thought, the text described an intention e.g.
He’s only young though
Change the subject
Take deep breaths
The fucking thing bit her
Thoughts from the slime activity today, positioning thoughts in real spaces, people created their own context using information in the surrounding environment as a cue. That is really exciting, describing thought & experiences using fragmented text is something I love about a lot of modernist writing & is a device I’d like to explore this week.
People seemed to be more interested in describing the events that imagined were happening in the narrative. It might be that this is an important thing that people want to understand before they want to explore other more psychological aspects of the thought. It might be that people behave completely differently when put on the spot in a workshop situation than they do exploring an artwork…
Also Aaron talked to me about how lo fi radio transmission could be used to give sound feedback to
So thinking of what I might do..
I know I want to do something exploring the location of thoughts in spaces, augmenting objects with small ammounts of informantion to encourage people encountering them to use their imagination to visualise them themselves.
The main decision I have to make is wether to make something akin to location based drama or a communication system of some sort. I’m sure the answer is to try both while I am here. I also feel like I need half a day to step back a bit think about what I want to do before I dive into anything.
